1 Enoch 15:1-12

¹And he answered me and said to me with his voice: Hear, do not be afraid, Enoch, righteous man and scribe of righteousness. Come near here and hear my voice.

²And go, say to the Watchers of heaven, who sent you to petition on their behalf: You ought to petition on behalf of men, and not men on your behalf.

³Why have you forsaken the high and holy heaven which is eternal, and lain with women, and defiled yourselves with the daughters of men, and taken wives for yourselves, and done as the sons of earth do, and begotten giant sons?

⁴And though you were spiritual, holy, living an eternal life, you defiled yourselves upon women, and begat offspring through the blood of flesh, and lusted after the blood of men, and have acted as those who are flesh and blood, who die and perish.

⁵For this reason I gave them women, that they might sow into them and children be born by them, that thus a work might be wrought upon the earth.

⁶But you were formerly spiritual, living an eternal life, immortal for all the generations of the world.

⁷Therefore I did not appoint wives for you, for the dwelling of the spiritual ones is in heaven.

⁸And now, the giants who were born from spirits and flesh—they shall be called evil spirits upon the earth, and upon the earth shall be their dwelling.

⁹Evil spirits have gone forth from their bodies, because from above they were created; from the holy Watchers is their beginning and their first foundation. They shall be evil spirits upon the earth, and evil spirits they shall be called.

¹⁰As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling; but the spirits of the earth who were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.

¹¹And the spirits of the giants are like clouds, which oppress, corrupt, fall upon, contend, and crush upon the earth, and cause grief; and they eat no food, and they neither thirst nor are perceived.

¹²And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them in the days of slaughter and destruction.
