Enoch 21:1-10

Enoch is led by the angel Uriel to witness two punitive realms: a chaotic place where seven transgressive stars are bound for ten thousand years, and...

I journeyed on to a place of chaos.

And there I beheld a fearful thing: I saw neither heaven above nor earth firmly founded, but a place disordered and dreadful.

And there I saw seven stars of heaven bound together in it, like great mountains, and burning with fire.

Then I said: 'For what sin have they been bound, and for what reason have they been cast here?'

Then Uriel answered me, one of the holy angels who was with me and who led me, and he said to me: 'Enoch, concerning whom do you ask, and concerning whom do you inquire and seek truth?

These are of the number of the stars of heaven which transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and they are bound here until ten thousand ages, the number of the days of their sins, are completed.'

And from there I passed on to another place, more dreadful than that one, and I saw a fearful thing: a great fire there, blazing and flaming, and the place had a cleft reaching down into the abyss, filled with great pillars of fire that were borne downward — and I could neither measure its extent nor perceive it.

Then I said: 'How fearful is this place, and how terrible to look upon!'

Then Uriel answered me, one of the holy angels who was with me, and he said to me: 'Enoch, why are you so afraid and terrified?' And I answered: 'Because of this fearful place and because of the spectacle of suffering.'

And he said to me: 'This place is the prison of the angels, and here they shall be held forever.'
