1 Enoch 39:1-14

¹And it shall come to pass in those days that the chosen and holy children shall descend from the lofty heavens, and their seed shall become one with the sons of men.

²In those days Enoch received the books of zeal and wrath, and the books of tumult and disturbance. "And mercy shall not be upon them," said the Lord of Spirits.

³And in that time a cloud and a whirlwind snatched me up from the face of the earth and set me down at the edge of the heavens.

⁴And there I saw another vision: the dwellings of the righteous and the resting-places of the holy ones.

⁵There my eyes beheld their dwellings with the angels and their resting-places with the holy ones, and they were petitioning and interceding and praying on behalf of the sons of men; and righteousness flowed like water before them, and mercy like dew upon the earth. Thus it is among them for ever and ever.

⁶And in those days my eyes saw the place of the chosen ones of righteousness and of faith; and righteousness shall prevail in their days, and the righteous and the chosen ones shall be without number before him for ever and ever.

⁷And I saw their dwelling beneath the wings of the Lord of Spirits, and all the righteous and the chosen shone before him like the light of fire; and their mouths were full of blessing, and their lips praised the name of the Lord of Spirits, and righteousness before him shall not fail.

⁸There I desired to dwell, and my soul longed for that dwelling-place; there had my portion been from the first, for thus it has been established concerning me before the Lord of Spirits.

⁹And in those days I praised and exalted the name of the Lord of Spirits with blessing and with glory, for he has strengthened me with blessing and glory according to the will of the Lord of Spirits.

¹⁰And for a long while my eyes gazed upon that place, and I blessed him, saying: "Blessed is he, and may he be blessed from the beginning and for evermore.

¹¹And before him there is no end. He knows, before the world was created, what the world is, and what shall be for generation after generation.

¹²Those who sleep not bless you; they stand before your glory and bless you and praise you and exalt you, saying: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Spirits; he fills the earth with spirits.'"

¹³And there my eyes saw all those who sleep not standing before him and blessing, and saying: "Blessed are you, and blessed is the name of the Lord for ever and ever."

¹⁴And my face was transformed, until I was no longer able to behold.
