1 Enoch 40:1-10

¹And after this I saw thousands of thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand, without number and without reckoning, who stand before the glory of the Lord of Spirits.

²I looked, and upon the four sides of the Lord of Spirits I saw four other faces, different from those who stand there, and I learned their names, for the angel who went with me made their names known to me and showed me every hidden thing.

³And I heard the voices of those four faces as they sang praises before the Lord of glory.

⁴The first voice was blessing the Lord of Spirits forever and ever.

⁵And the second voice I heard blessing the Chosen One and the chosen ones who are sustained by the Lord of Spirits.

⁶And the third voice I heard petitioning and praying on behalf of those who dwell upon the dry land and who entreat in the name of the Lord of Spirits.

⁷And the fourth voice I heard driving away the satans, not permitting them to come before the Lord of Spirits to accuse those who dwell upon the dry land.

⁸And after this I asked the angel of peace who went with me, who showed me everything that is hidden, and I said to him: "Who are these four faces which I have seen, whose voices I have heard and written down?"

⁹And he said to me: "This first is the merciful one, slow to anger, the holy Michael; and the second, who is over every sickness and every wound of the children of men, is Raphael; and the third, who is over every power, is the holy Gabriel; and the fourth, who is over repentance and hope for those who will inherit eternal life, is Phanuel."

¹⁰And these are the four angels of the Most High God, and the four voices I heard in those days.
