1 Enoch 56:1-8

¹And there I saw the hosts of the angels of punishment going, and they held scourges of iron and bronze.

²And I asked the angel of peace who went with me, saying, "To whom are these going who hold the scourges?"

³And he said to me, "To their chosen ones and to their beloved ones, that they may be cast into the chasm of the depth of the valley.

⁴And then that valley shall be filled with their chosen and beloved ones, and the day of their life and the day of their erring shall be ended, and from that time they shall not be counted.

⁵And in those days the angels shall gather themselves together and cast themselves toward the east upon the people of Parthia and Media, and they shall stir up the kings, and a spirit of disturbance shall come upon them, and they shall rouse them from their thrones, and they shall break forth like lions from their lairs, and like hungry wolves in the midst of their flock.

⁶And they shall go up and tread upon the land of his chosen ones, and the land of his chosen ones shall become before them a threshing-floor and a trodden path.

⁷But the city of my righteous ones shall be a hindrance to their horses, and they shall stir up slaughter among themselves, and their right hand shall grow strong against themselves, and a man shall not know his neighbor, nor his brother, nor a son his father or his mother, until the number of corpses from their slaying and their punishment is complete; and it shall not be in vain.

⁸And in those days Sheol shall open her mouth, and they shall be swallowed up in her; and their destruction—Sheol shall swallow up the sinners from before the face of the chosen.
