1 Enoch 9:1-11

¹Then Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel looked down from heaven and saw much blood being poured out upon the earth, and all the lawlessness that was being wrought upon the earth.

²And they said to one another, "The voice of their crying—the earth, stripped bare, cries out unto the gates of heaven.

³And now to you, O holy ones of heaven, the souls of men make their plea, saying, 'Bring our cause before the Most High.'"

⁴And they said to the Lord, the King, "Lord of lords, God of gods, King of kings, Holy One—the throne of your glory endures unto all the generations of the ages, and your name is holy and glorified unto all the ages.

⁵You have made all things, and all authority is yours; and all things are uncovered and manifest before you, and you behold all things, and there is nothing that can be hidden from you.

⁶Behold what Azazel has done: how he has taught all iniquity upon the earth, and has revealed the eternal secrets which were prepared in heaven, which the sons of men were striving to learn.

⁷And Semyaza, to whom you have granted authority to rule over those who are with him—

⁸together they went in to the daughters of men, and lay with these women, and defiled themselves, and revealed to them all manner of sins.

⁹And the women bore giants, and thereby the whole earth has been filled with blood and iniquity.

¹⁰And now, behold, the spirits of the souls of the men who have died make their plea, and their groaning has come up to the gates of heaven, and their lamentation ascends and cannot cease before the iniquities that are wrought upon the earth.

¹¹And you know all things before they come to pass, and you know this and what concerns them, yet you do not speak to us. What ought we to do with them concerning this?"
